Oransi v-hepa Air Purifier Review

The Oransi v-hepa air purifier uses a pre-filter and HEPA filter to remove pollen, dust, pet dander and bacteria from the air. The air purifier has a washable pre-filter and HEPA filter.  The HEPA air filter in the v-hepa air purifier has been tested to remove over 99% of airborne particles. The user interface is simple to operate with manual controls. The benefit is the air purifier is easy to use and will automatically restart in the case of a power failure. With the manual controls you give up a feature such as a replacement filter indicator that is found in other high performance air purifiers. We have not reviewed their other purifier it yet but Oransi has these features in their Pro UV model.

Overall Air Purifier Rating: 9.0/10

  1. Ease of Use Rating:  1.8 out of 2. The Oransi v-hepa air purifier is simple to set up and operate.  We just removed the air purifier from the box and plugged it in - well actually the filters were in a sealed bag so we had to remove the front cover to access the filters first.  The power controls are very intuitive and access to the filter requires removal of the cover which has a magnetic lock.  The HEPA filter requires replacement every 5-10 months but there is no cleaning involved with the HEPA filter. The pre-filter can be washed or vacuumed lightly to clean. As we have found with most other air purifiers, the units come with the HEPA filter.
  2. Air Flow: 1.6 out of 2. Based on our testing the v-hepa can effectively clean rooms in the 300-400 sq ft range( 20’ x 20’).  The noise level at the highest fan speed is louder than some users would want while in a bedroom however we found the v-hepa air purifier to be quieter than any other HEPA air purifier we have tested. We did not test the noise level in our lab however the air purifier specifications list the noise level at 48 dB which is much quieter than the other HEPA based purifiers we have reviewed. On the lowest fan speed setting the Oransi was very quiet.
  3. Filter Efficiency:  2.9 out of 3. The Oransi v-hepa air purifier removed over 99% of the particles that were passing through the air purifier based on our particle counter.  This places the v-hepa air purifier among the top of all air purifiers tested.
  4. Consumer Feedback:  2.7 out of 3. In searching the web for customer reviews we found most reviewers purchased for bedroom use and were most interested in a high performance air purifier to remove allergens such as dust, pollen and mold. While the number of reviews on the v-hepa is somewhat modest at the review sites, to date the majority have assigned a 5 star.  Distribution seems to be focused on their site and through Amazon(similar to Oreck). The performance, design and feature set of the air purifier get most of the attention with users commenting on the relatively quiet noise level for a HEPA air purifier and reasonable filter costs.  We did find a comment on the noise level on the highest fan speed setting being a bit louder than the reviewer would have liked.
